Claim Government-Funded Childcare Before the Deadline

The deadline to apply for government-funded childcare hours is the last day of the month before a new term begins. For example, if your child is starting in April, you must apply by March 31st. The same applies to summer and autumn terms. Applying early helps prevent delays and secures your child’s funded place.

What is Funded Childcare?

Funded childcare is a government initiative providing free childcare hours for working parents. It ensures children receive quality early education while easing financial pressure on families.

By 2025, working parents in England will be eligible for up to 30 hours of funded childcare per week, for 38 weeks a year, starting from when their child is 9 months old until they begin primary school.

How Does Free Childcare Work at Kids World Nursery?

At Kids World Nursery, we support families in accessing government-funded childcare. The number of hours your child can receive depends on their age and your family’s circumstances.

Our nurseries provide inclusive, engaging activities at no extra charge. Once approved, you’ll receive a code to give to your childcare provider.

Eligibility for Free Childcare

Here’s what you could be entitled to:

For Working Families:

15 hours/week for children aged 9 months to 3 years (starting September 2024)*
30 hours/week for children aged 3–4 years*
30 hours/week for children aged 9 months to 4 years (starting September 2025)*

Parents on maternity, paternity, or adoption leave, or those unable to work due to disability or caregiving, may still qualify. Families with an income above £100,000 are not eligible. You must reconfirm eligibility every three months through your government childcare account.

For Families Receiving Government Support:

15 hours/week for 2-year-olds receiving benefits
15 hours/week for all 3-year-olds

For Families Not Qualifying for Working or Government Support:

15 hours/week for children aged 3–4 years*

Childcare Funding in Wales

Under the Childcare Offer for Wales, eligible families can claim up to 30 hours of early education and childcare per week for up to 48 weeks per year.

Benefits of Funded Childcare

Funded childcare provides financial relief and supports children’s early education, social skills, and cognitive development. It also enables parents, especially mothers, to return to work, increasing household income and financial stability.

Tax-Free Childcare

This scheme helps families save up to £2,000 per child per year (£4,000 for children with disabilities). Tax-Free Childcare can be combined with funded childcare hours.
